The Resilient Development team provides tools to local and regional governments in all aspects related to resilience.
The Resilient Development team works at the interface of a variety of topics that fall under the broader umbrella of resilience. This includes disaster risks, safe urban environments, climate change adaptation, infrastructure, urban logistics, financing the resilient city, climate insurance, urban agriculture and food, smart infrastructure and other issues, in coordination with ICLEI’s teams worldwide.
The underpinning philosophy of the team is to promote a holistic, integrated and interdisciplinary approach of resilience, tearing down the silo vision of local and regional development. One of the major strengths of the team is our interdisciplinary expertise, and our rights-based and people-centred vision of resilience.
The team works in close collaboration with the other teams of ICLEI to develop and implement integrated resilient actions across our network and promote multi-level governance for resilient actions. In doing so the Resilient Development team offers technical, advocacy and capacity building support on the range of issues.
ICLEI’s “urban resilience assessment methodology” is an unique tool to determine the general states of resilience and suggest actions through tiered approach of “analyze – act – accelerate”.
The Resilient Development team also leads the ICLEI’s global presence in different international campaigns and initiatives, most notably, Making Cities Resilient 2030 and Race to Resilience.
We work with all cities and regional networks such as C40 cities, WRI as well as UN agencies such as UNDP, UNEP and UNDRR.
