This report captures the proceedings, outcomes, and insights from the 7th ICLEI Global Research and Innovation Symposium held during the ICLEI World Congress 2024. The event brought together over 150 participants and 20 high-level speakers from academia, local government, and innovation networks to explore transformative solutions for sustainable urban development. It showcases thought leadership on topics including the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, innovative financing mechanisms, human needs-centered innovation, digitalization, multilevel governance, and indigenous knowledge. A core feature was the Global Research & Innovation Marketplace, which bridged gaps between ideas, practice, and funding through dynamic pitches and collaborative sessions. The report highlights actionable strategies, global-local synergies, and the critical role of cities in shaping a climate-resilient future.
