What we did

Taiwan's corporate sustainability breaks through on the international stage! Domestic industry, government, academia, and research sectors have joined forces to create the Alliance for Sustainable Development Goals (A•SDGs), which recently held the Global Corporate Sustainability Forum (GCSF) at the Grand Hotel, Taipei, featuring exceptional contents revealing the diverse sectoral successes of Taiwan's promotion of sustainable development, and successfully launching Taiwan's enhanced presence on the global stage. In Taiwan, we are tackling the major challenges of transition from high-carbon energy to low-carbon energy and from high-carbon to low-carbon economic development. As the world's largest city network, the ICLEI continues to focus on the expanding low-emission city initiative via local actions around the world. At the same time, the Asia LEDS Partnership is also actively paving new paths to low-emission development in the region through multi-level stakeholder engagement. To push forward the LEDs initiatives, ICLEI KCC and Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, one of the ALP members, jointly organize the “Asia-Pacific Low Emission City Forum: From Energy Transition to Sustainable Development” to explore alternatives in accelerating low-emission and sustainable actions via smart energy transformation. This Forum aims to build a platform and anchor the main parameters in energy transition with a focus on “Opportunities and Challenges of Innovative Green Energy Development.”

To bridge the gap and open the dialogue between public and private sectors on sustainability in Asian region, ICLEI KCC will host a parallel session on Cities Initiatives during the opening day of Global Corporate Sustainability Forum, in cooperation with the Organizer, Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), ICLEI Member Cities in Taiwan and other local partners. 3 of ALP Steering Committee Members from the Philippines, Mongolia(Ulaanbaatar) are invited to speak at the Forum and joined ALP-member track, including official calls on national authorities related to energy regulations and policies, technical visits to e-mobility in postal services, smart energy communities in New Taipei City and circular economic development in Taoyuan City.
