About Carbonn
The carbonn Cities Climate Registry (cCCR) is a global mechanism that encourages local governments to regularly and publicly report on their greenhouse gas reduction commitments, GHG emissions inventories and climate mitigation/adaptation actions. The cCCR was developed by local governments for local governments.
The cCCR enables cities and local governments to publicly register their greenhouse gas reduction commitments, report performance and showcase actions.
The cCCR ensures that local climate action is measurable, reportable and verifiable, and that data are consistent with the standards of the global climate regime.
The cCCR supports the global credibility of local climate action and ensures transparency, accountability and comparability.
Carbonn is an encouragment of public Goverment reports on their local greenhouse gas reduction actions.

The cCCR is a mechanism for cities and local governments to make commitments to climate change that the world can count on.

Our Mission
The carbonn Cities Climate Registry helps
Local governments to achieve transparency and accountability of local climate actions, demonstrate leadership and initiate a process for direct access to global climate funds.
National governments and the global climate communitygain a better understanding of the achievements, performance and ambitions of local climate action and formulate appropriate global climate policies which also incorporate involvement of local governments.
The carbonn Cities Climate Registry is
- Based on the experience of voluntary local climate action dispersed globally
- Inspired by the vision of the Local Government Climate Roadmap.
- Built on the success of the Copenhagen World Catalogue of Local Climate Commitments.
- Informed by the guidance of the International Local Government GHG Emissions Analysis Protocol (IEAP).
- Linked to existing efforts for enhanced global climate action on a trajectory leading beyond 2012.
