Financing nature in cities: Structuring bankable NbS for urban resilience

This report highlights key lessons on developing urban climate projects that are aligned with each city’s territorial and institutional context, incorporating robust technical frameworks, anticipating operation and maintenance costs, engaging stakeholders, and positioning projects for improved access to finance.
Through peer learning and targeted capacity-building activities, the SUP helped cities interpret and apply these lessons in practice — strengthening intersectoral coordination, refining governance and sustainability arrangements, and exploring financing pathways to support project preparation for NbS.
