KO has been operating overseas training program for officials to strenthen work capability, promote policy exchange and establish a network with other ICLEI members.
In 2024, the overseas training program for officials was conducted in connection with the ICLEI WC. Participants were provided with the chance to attend the WC held in San Paulo, visit neighboring cities-Campinas and Sao Jose dos Campos-for policy interchange, and have a meeting with specialists in SD, including the UN Harmony with Nature.

What we achieved
Participants could experience how ICLEI members were connected and worked together towards the SDGs by attending the WC. Conducting KO’s training program in connection with the WC was good to show the power of network to the officials, accelerating them to get inspiration and implement SD policies more responsibly.
Thanks to the support from SAMS, program participants could have meetings with the mayors of Campinas and Sao Jose dos Campos, listening to their efforts and outcomes. Also, they had opportunity to promote their own best practices and discuss future cooperation plans in SD.
