What we are doing

1. To respond to the urgent need of local governments in Europe to build capacity for strategic and sustainable cooling planning and advocacy at national and European level. 2. The overall aim of the action is to equip technical staff in cities with the methods, data, and tools to understand the heat island effect and similar urban problems and provide corresponding city planning and building cooling solutions in line with European and international standards. 3. Fostering the development of sound multilevel governance systems in the MSs for the development and implementation of H&C plans, as well as cooling solutions in cities.

What we are achieving

1. Raising awareness in the European Commission, Parliament and Energy Ministers in the Member States about the importance of including Local and Regional governments as key stakeholders in the process of development of Heating and Cooling Plans. 2. Via targeted meetings, events and knowledge products – such as a Manifesto for Cooling planning in cities. 3. The action aims at fostering the development of sound multilevel governance systems in the MSs for the development and implementation of H&C plans, as well as cooling solutions in cities.
