[24_22] Long Beach, CA 2023 Inventory of Community-wide Emissions

[24_22] Long Beach GHGI
ACTIVITY INFORMATION
What we did

Long Beach recently completed an inventory with ICLEI USA in 2021, and wanted to follow-up with a 2023 inventory to track progress related to goals and actions outlined by the Long Beach Climate Action Plan. This will allow Long Beach to monitor the impact of emissions reduction strategies, especially in priority sectors, and to eventually review and upscale these actions. This will also allow the City to evaluate progress towards meeting its 2030 emissions reduction target and achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.

What we achieved

ICLEI USA completed a new, 2023 community-wide inventory using the ClearPath 1.0 software. ICLEI USA developed this inventory using guidance and methodology from the U.S. Community Protocol (USCP) and Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories (GPC) Basic with limited Basic+ elements. Completion of this inventory will allow Long Beach to track progress since 2021 and determine emissions reductions needs to meet its 2030 and 2045 targets.
