RethinkAction Platform: multi-level analyses of land-use-based mitigation and adaptation solutions (LAMS)

The RethinkAction Platform supports local and regional stakeholders in addressing climate change through land-use-based adaptation and mitigation solutions (LAMS). It enables users to assess climate risks, explore science-based strategies, and simulate future scenarios at local, European, and global scales. The platform offers different tools categorised under 3 main analysis paths: 1) LAMS Catalogue, 2) Local Analysis Tool, and 3) EU/Global Analysis Tool. This Solution focuses on the two analytical pathways – the Local and EU/Global Analysis Tools.

The Local Analysis Tool explores climate data and assessments from the six European RethinkAction case studies, which have been selected to represent the variety of climates and territories on the continent. By integrating high-resolution climate and land-use data, vulnerability assessments, and simulation models, users can conduct climate risk assessments under different future climate scenarios, identify priority areas for action, and produce suitability maps to establish where and how solutions can be most effectively implemented.

In contrast, the EU/Global Analysis Tool allows users to assess regions in Europe beyond the predefined case studies and to explore large-scale climate and policy dynamics across multiple sectors and geographic areas. It is particularly valuable for comparing climate risks and policy options across countries and regions, understanding cross-sector interactions at the European and global scale, and supporting macro-level land-based solutions and cross-border collaboration.
