What we did

Pitkin County, CO, is in the process of developing a climate action plan (CAP) slated for release on February 11, 2025. While the CAP is currently focused on emissions mitigation, the County is interested in incorporating a discussion of climate adaptation in a memo, attachment, appendix, or progress report released concurrently or soon after the CAP. The County contracted with ICLEI USA to support the completion of the CAP’s adaptation component through consulting hours.

What we achieved

ICLEI USA conducted a desktop review of Pitkin County’s relevant existing plans to identify adaptation actions already underway as well as gaps, opportunities, and strategies for the county to pursue in future adaptation efforts; provided guidance and sample activities/discussion questions for Spring 2025 stakeholder group meeting; and drafted an adaptation appendix for the CAP.
