2023 Biodiversity Forum in Changwon

ACTIVITY INFORMATION
What we did

Since 2014, after holding the 4th Summit for Subnational Governments & Cities at CBD COP12 in Pyeongchang, Korea Office has been holding annual local biodiversity forum on behalf of ICLEI KO member cities to address regional biodiversity and ecosystem issues and provide solutions. While Korea has billed Biodiversity Act in 2013, and has been publishing NBSAPs since the ratification of CBD, biodiversity has yet been mainstreamed in the local and subnational context. KO aim to disseminate local actions and struggles on biodiversity loss and ecosystem conservation/rehabilitation in order to bring out best local practice and spurce the local network that address the problem-oriented policy issues regarding local biodiversity. In 2023, KO held the Forum with Changwon city, focusing on the public-private bilateral governance of biodiversity actions.
