The sustainable mobility policy aims: city of short distances and investment in alternatives to the private car (heavy public transport, cycling policy, sharing the street) are used to influence travel demand and reduce vehicle trips ; to reduce the modal share of private cars from 56 to less than 35% ; and in cycling policy : to increase using bike 2 to 10%.

These catchment areas are of strategic importance to the drinking water supply of lille Metropole : shallow and mainly located in the territory groundwater.
