GMC initiated Street Lighting ESCO project in PPP mode. The project is to install power savers in the entire street lighting system and reduce 40% energy consumption. The monthly savings will be distributed between GMC and ESCO in 30:70 basis respectively.
It will save 3 million kWh of electricity each year and 4000 tonnes of CO2 eq annually.

Presently there is no complete sewerage system in Gwalior Municipal area. The project has been initiated to complete the sewerage network in the city. The project includes laying of sewer lines and constructing 2 STPs of 30 MLD capacity each.

Gwalior is going to be supported by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for development as "Solar/Green Cities". The solar city aims at minimum 10% reduction in projected demand of conventional energy at the end of five years, which can be achieved through a combination of energy efficiency measures and enhancing supply from renewable energy sources in the city. The goal of the programme is to promote the use of renewable energy in urban areas by providing support to the Municipal Corporations for preparation and implementation of a Road Map to develop their cities as Solar Cities.

The project of providing city bus service has been initiated by the government in order to avoid congestion and reduce the use of private vehicles. The project will be implemented in PPP mode and a SPV will be formed consisting of members from various organizations. the main features of this project are - Procurement of 144 Mini buses, renovation of 2 bus terminals and construction of 2 bus depots.

Urban-LEDS is an international project funded by the European Commission with an aim to enhance the transition to low-emission urban development in cities in emerging economy countries: Brazil, India, Indonesia and South Africa.

The waste processing plant has a fully automatic segregation plant having 300 TPD capacity, a mechanical compost plant having 100 TPD capacity, a vermi compost plant unit having 20 TPD capacity. It has been developed with the help of grants received under "Central scheme for solid waste management and drainage in 10 selected airfield towns". The vermi composting facility having a capacity of 20 tpd is located 12 km away from the city and spreads across 25 sq. km. area. It is managed M/s AKC Developers, Ltd. Noida on PPP mode.The final product is packed and sold to other states at Rs. 225 per bag of 50 kgs.

Revamping of the pumping plants with new pump sets, valves, piping, starter, panels, etc. is expected to increase plant output (flow rate) by approximately 15% and reduce energy consumption by 10%. This would reduce 1500 tCO2e carbon emissions annually.

Rail over bridge is being constructed starting from Maharaja Tomar Pratima passing Sindhya Girls School up till Moti Mahal. Two more bridges are being constructed starting from IIITM Yadav Dharmakata to Shatabdi Puram.

Water resources department initiated the upgradation of Swarnarekha River. The major actions taken for this are-
Identification of major sources of pollution in the catchment, both point and non-point sources
Assessment of waste generation and their disposal, Working model for community management of the catchment, Comprehensive water quality monitoring of the receiving water bodies, Ecological Assessment of water bodies, Water quality Improvement, Monitoring and surveillance of ecological status, land use activities, waste generation, policy and regulation, governance, institutional arrangement, etc.

Channelization of 25 drains flowing into Morar river and 84 drains flowing into Swarnrekha river. The city government is receiving 80% funds from the central government and 10% from the state government under the UIDSSMT scheme.

The length of the proposed river corridor along Morar River is 12.30 km. There are 9 bridges planned to be built across the river. Culverts are also proposed to be built on the 25 drains merging into the river.

5 Flyovers have planned to be constructed in the city in order to avoid congestion and improve mobility in the city. The flyovers planned are to connect Kampoo to Gorkhi, Shinde ki Chhawani to Ramdas Ghati, Baradari Chouraha to 7 No. Chouraha, and Hazira to Char Sahar ka Naka having length 900, 1000, 700, 1100 and 700 meters respectively.

Detailed project reports for water supply have been prepared by municipal corporation and have been submitted to central government for approval. The project is to augment surface water from Kaketo Dam, Pehsari Dam, Tigra Dam and Chambal River. The total water demand is 480 MLD.

The government under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana have initiated this cleanliness mission in order to improve the environmental conditions in the city. The activities undertaken under this scheme are renovation/rehabilitation of 297 community toilets, construction of 2000 new toilets, repair of existing toilet seats and provision of connection of water & sewer for 200 existing toilets.
