For two nights, homes, businesses, and city buildings will turn off their lights and enjoy free public astronomy programs provided by Flagstaff community organizations.
Lights Out Flagstaff was inspired by both Earth Hour and Lights Out Houston. Lights Out Houston, which has existed since 2008, is a program in which public and commercial buildings in Houston commit to turning off lights and reducing consumption of non-essential electricity for an entire weekend to demonstrate Houston’s public and private sector commitment to energy conservation.
We will be adapting our Resilience and Preparedness Study into action items through workshops for each individual city department.
