Balikpapan plan to use gas that is prioritized for municipality cars' fuel. Currently there has been 2 "daugther" gas station in the city. However, it still cannot operate because the "mother" station will be build next year along with the converter unit that will be distributed free of charge for each municipal cars.
The funding is from national and city budget, where PT PERTAMINA is in charge with the funding for land allocation.

Currently there has been 82 waste bank scattered in each districts, self-managed by the society with guidance from local NGO.
The Waste Bank works as the pool for waste with economical value, so that it also encourage the society to select and seperate their waste: the organic waste to be composted and the economically valuable waste (i.e. plastic) could be reselled. (Beside waste bank, there are also 38 composting sites, 6 integrated landfill, and 2 waste seperation house).
The Waste Bank not only coordinate in the residential area, but also the schools. The existence of waste bank encourage house wifes to seperate their waste from the first hand and actively participate in economic activities related to waste bank (as the teller, etc).
