The project builds on the Circle City Scan Tool prototype, an online tool aiming to allow any local government or city change agent to identify and prioritize circular opportunities for their city or region, based on socioeconomic and material flow data about their context. The tool was tested with 10 pilot cities across three world regions and learnings from the piloting are being used to ensure the updated prototype matches the needs of city practitioners.

Read more Read lessTo ensure the tool can be adapted to fit the U.S. context and addresses the practical needs of cities and counties, ICLEI experts tested the tool with 5 pilot local governments in the U.S. The analysis provided the pilot cities and counties with an overview of how much of the materials flowing through their jurisdiction are consumed and wasted, and where they can intervene to shift their economies toward circularity.
