Viola Lutz

Consultant, South Pole Group

Viola is a consultant with South Pole Group where she manages a project aiming to develop tools that facilitate the financing of mitigation activities of cities. The project is conducted under the Low-Carbon City Lab (LoCaL), a flagship program under Climate-KIC, the EU’s main climate innovation program. She has worked as research analyst for the 2 degree investing initiative, a think tank working to align the financial sector with 2°C climate goals and has done consultancy work for UNEP. Viola originally started her career in management consulting with McKinsey & Co. and has worked in commercial and social start-ups in Johannesburg and New York. She holds an MPA from Sciences Po Paris.



Padraig Oliver

Analyst at Climate Policy Initiative


Padraig Oliver has worked in climate policy in China and Europe since 2006. In China, he worked for Development Solutions on capacity building projects for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) before moving on to conduct research for Ecofys on post-2012 regimes in China, financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and CDM market analysis. In 2011, he joined the Climate Bonds Initiative. Work included pinpointing bond investor requirements for low-carbon projects, designing and implementing a Climate Bond Standard and Certification Scheme, publishing regular market updates for how many bonds are already used for climate solutions, and outlining policy frameworks to help grow a green bond market. Padraig holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London.
