Watch this space! Launch of cCR 5-Year Overview Report and Low Carbon events at COP21

The countdown to the UNFCCC COP21 in Paris has officially begun. In less than one week the world’s nations, local and sub-national governments, and key decision-makers will convene in Paris (30 Nov. to – 11 Dec 2015). Selected highlights and events below are recommended as “must see” and “must be”.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability in its capacity as the focal point of Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) Constituency to the UNFCCC, will host and co-host of numerous events. Please join us - whether in Paris, or participating remotely – and don’t miss a beat of the low-carbon action. Here is your (non-exhaustive) list of low-carbon events:

“Recognize – Engage - Empower” – follow the Local Government Climate Roadmap

To get an overview we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Local Government Climate Roadmap and the local and subnational governments advocacy journey to date. Also consult the Local Government Climate Roadmap Paris Dialogues outlining the latest developments of the COP21/CMP11 negotiations in Paris that are relevant to cities, towns and regions.

Events organized under the Lima-Paris Action Agenda (LPAA) address thematic focuses (including “buildings” on Dec 3rd and “cities” on Dec 8th). These mostly take place in the Blue Zone and require UNFCCC accreditation (so restricted access).

During the duration of the COP21/CMP11 ICLEI will provide daily media coverage of the Blue Zone (again, requiring official UNFCCC accreditation).

For more information, follow ICLEI at COP21 and register to our daily COP21 Digests (see Digest #1 and Digest #2).
